Back from SMX West 2010.
One theme that kept popping up in conversations while I was at SMX West was the observation that there are many quality SEO tools entering the market. The need for the tools is very clear because without SEO management tools, it’s difficult to scale the service. For many SEO Experts there’s the challenge of how best to download skills and experience to staff while still ensuring that the customers of SEO projects and campaigns still receive an effective service.
Without the downloading of skills, scaling SEO services is very difficult. To solve this problem, my partner, Santosh, and I have been examining many of the leading SEO management and research tools available today. One tool in particular, RavenSEO, holds particular promise.
RavenSEO offers bundled SEO research tools, such as SEM Rush and Majestic while also incorporating a platform that documents SEO tasks and activities. There is also too a reporting environment. We have spent the evening evaluating the suite of tools. We are starting to form the opinion that by combining Raven with many of the best tools found in the pro acount of SEOMoz there is the possibility to create a professional and standardized approach to conducting organic SEO projects that can scale very well.
Our next step will be to examine the SEO tools more closely and then develop a set of processes whereby a skilled SEO consultant can mange a team. If a process can be established we plan to deploy this in an outsource SEO model.

The Challenge of Local Fire and Flood Restoration Marketing
With the maturing of the Internet and the increasing strength and sophistication on the part of large national franchise services in the fire and flood restoration sector, there is a challenge ahead to market online the local business which while being in business for over 55 years, has an only emerging web presence. The solution to this challenge is to bring forward on N.E. Walsh company website their experience and reputation which will appeal strongly to local Akron and Canton visitors. Reading their testimonials, it’s very clear N.E. Walsh is a company that values delivery satisfactory service and we are pleased to work with them.
Our Tactics, Tools and Solutions
For this type of campaign, there will be great benefit in both the hard work of solid copy-writing and link building. Link building at any level is always beneficial, but for highly competitive keyword markets, link building must draw upon relationships and an editorial process to tap into linking sources of trust and authority. We have not yet begun serious competitive analysis and backlink analysis, but our preliminary findings suggest that for their market and keyword arena, which is a market of local search, classic and sound link building techniques will prove to be beneficial.
Our initial search marketing campaign will focus on copywriting on the subject of fire damage, basement and flood damage, and restoration services in order to broadly expose the full range of N.E. Walsh’s services. In addition, we plan to conduct an extensive link building campaign in order to improve rankings and help offset relative newness of their domain. Finally we will deploy both Google Analytics and call tracking by Mongoose in order to fully measure site interaction. For campaign research and management, we will be using several pro-level tools including Raven SEO for campaign management and monitoring and Majestic for backward link research.
